Griffith College is excited to announce an upcoming event that celebrates and empowers the LGBTQIA+ community in Higher Education. Pride in Higher Education: Empowering LGBTQIA+ people and community, promises to be a thought-provoking and enlightening discussion on the importance of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion within Higher Educational institutions.

  • Jean-Anne Kennedy (she/her), Academic Quality Assurance and Enhancement Project Manager, Co-Chair of the EDI Committee and Athena Swan Project Lead  
  • John Eardly (he/him), Programme Director, Law Faculty, Griffith College and member of the Griffith College EDI Committee  

During the panel discussion, we will delve into the transformative power of Higher Education settings in empowering LGBTQIA+ individuals and fostering inclusive communities. Our aim is to explore the role of educational institutions as nurturing grounds for diversity and queerness to flourish. We extend a warm invitation to all staff, lecturers, learners, and visitors beyond the Griffith community to join us for this event. It's an excellent opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, gain insights, and celebrate the inclusive spirit of higher education. We are thrilled to welcome representatives from the small trans library, and LGBT Ireland, who will enrich our discussion with their valuable perspectives and contributions. There will also be some displays, books and materials available on the day.
